BAMBOO, LIONS AND DRAGONS Two families, the Changs and the Lims, tell the story of the Chinese community in Vancouver from widely different perspectives. Chang Yun Ho arrived in Canada in 1908. His generation never integrated into the Canadian mainstream, partly because of the passage of the Asiatic Exclusion Act that fostered racism. By contrast, Liz and Herb Lim were born in Canada and grew up in Chinatown. They now live in the suburbs, totally acculturated to Canadian ways. JD JOB OPPORTUNITIES VVI CORRECTION! Unknown person: I don't understand, you have a steam plant here and I'm sure they can do it. I get my hair cut here for $1.50 and I thought I could get the steam engine done here much cheaper. Staff member: Sorry, the Power Engineering Department doesn't work on small things like that. Unknown person: Well I'm a non-alcoholic in many areas ....
