The total received through pledges, cheques, the pancake breakfast, the social, and the pumpkin carving came to nearly $7,000. Hopefully, by the time the campaign officially closes, we will have topped that amount. USE ONLY EXPO! GEORGE CLARK has asked us to remind you to please, please, please not use anything but "EXPO" markers on white boards. Any other felt pen will ruin the boards. Expo markers can be obtained from the supplies area in Administration. A BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE LIBRARY! EVA SHARELL from the Library writes to say that they are pleased to announce the arrival of their longawaited ERIC database on CD-ROM. ERIC is the database of educational materials collected by the Educational Resources Information Centre of the U.S. Department of Education. It has two subfiles: (1) Resources in Education (RIE) covering documents and (2) Current Index to Journals in Education (CUE) covering approximately 750 journals. ERIC consists of two compact discs for the years 1966-1989, a CD monitor/player and printer. The discs will be updated quarterly. The system is available for public use and the Library would be happy to show any instructor ICOU^ER IMMUNITY 'Wuvtci mr • itional Institute CHRISTMAS IS A COMING AND THE GOOSE IS GETTING FAT.. However, although the goose may be getting fat you might not be, that is if you were planning to order all your Christmas goodies from the Bakery. DICK KOK writes to say that, unfortunately, this year the Bakery is unable to take Christmas orders. All Christmas goods will be sold over the sales counter on a first come first served basis. Dick apologies for the inconvenience and hopes that next year you will be able to order to all the goodies you want as the Baking Department should by then be in its new (improved!) premises. WORDS OF WISDOM REGARDING RETIREMENT JOHN VANDENAKKER advises us that if you are thinking of retiring, the College operates an Early Retirement Incentive Plan through which a financial incentive may be offered to employees wishing to retire before age 65. Details of the plans are in the VIA and VMREU collective agreements, and all employees can apply for inclusion in the plan. A similar plan exists for administrative personnel. Anyone wishing to take early retirement between April 1,1990 and March 31, 1991 must apply in writing to the Dean of Administrative and Support Services, no later than January 31,1990. If you wish any more information, give John a call at local 238. SO YOU WONDERED WHO YOU WERE TALKING TO AT LOCAL 244?
