A NOTE OF THANKS On behalf of Dolores Callaghan and myself, I wish to thank the many departments for their cooperation in welcoming our tour groups. On average, we take one group per week around the campus to view the facilities and the participants are most appreciative of the opportunity to view the classroom settings. We are grateful for the time instructors take to acquaint participants with their programs! California 95521 Office for Academic Affairs TO DATE: January 29, 1987 General Faculty SUBJECT: FACULTY EXCHANGE OPPORTUNITIES ******* Faculty exchange opportunities are now possible through an HSU member¬ ship in the FACULTY EXCHANGE CENTER. The FACULTY EXCHANGE CENTER (EEC) was established in 1973 in order to facilitate the movement of professional persons in education. The Cen¬ ter makes it possible for interested professors to exchange positions with colleagues in their field from institutions both on this continent and overseas where the language of instruction is English. Ttve FEC serves as a clearinghouse and in ;the Fall publishes a directory con¬ taining the names of the instructors as well as their institutions, rank, and field of specialization. The directory also mentions the region where the faculty members prefer to teach and travel, and if they are willing to exchange their house. Upon the receipt of the directory, members match themselves with one or more colleagues and initiate correspondence with them to work out the details of exchange. When these arrangements have been completed, fur¬ ther efforts of the persons involved working through their Department Chair and Dean, work out an agreement leading to an exchange. (Exchange forms are available in the Office for Academic Affairs.) In recent years the FEC has had members from American and foreign institutions covering -all the major disciplines. FEC registrants have been from all parts of the United States including Guam, Hawaii, Alas¬ ka, Puerto Rico, and Virgin Islands, as well as from Canada, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Austrailia, New Guinea, Israel, Egypt, Spain, Sweden, France, Greece, India, Holland, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. DATELINES The FEC Directory and Supplement will be published annually in the Fall. Upon registration, the registrant will be mailed the current issue(s). Registrants' names will be included in the issues(s) of the following Fall, which they will also receive. Deadline for inclusion: If you have further questions, please contact Pat Vanderklis, extension 3632, in the Office for Academic Affairs. The California Stale University FORM I INSTmjnOHAL HEKBERSHI?
