The Chaim Zbar Foundation has continued their string of annual donations, by giving another $1,000 to the foundation in favour of VVI students. This brings their total donation to $3,500 and the fund balance to about $6,000. On June 24, The Vancouver Executives' Association donated $1,075 to the VVI for addition to their endowment fund, bring their total to $3,376.03. BCIT, SFU and UBC also received similar amounts. These services have, until now, been subcontracted to a private organization. In assuming these new responsibilities, we will be in a position to offer, in addition to scheduled course offerings, a complete CPR and First Aid resource service for the college. This service will include: 1. Course offerings for staff training, 2. Courses for students as prerequisites or as an in¬ tegral part of the curriculum you offer, and 3. Specialty programs designed for the needs of your facil¬ ity. Due to the costs of hiring instructors, cleaning of equipment and purchase of manuals, this service is to be conducted on a cost recovery basis only. International Conference for Translators & Interpreters Sponsored by Vancouver Community College and held on May 23-24, 1987 the conference attracted over 200 participants from 15 couritries and was a programming and organizational success.
