DO WE OFFER CREATIVE WRITING COURSES IN DENTAL? LIZZ LINDSAY of the Dental Department, sent in the following which was written by Jason Sutherland (nine years old) the son of SHERRY SUTHERLAND, one of the Division I Dental Assisting students: MY DAY AT V.V.I On Friday I spent a day in Man's school than at my school. First of all, the teachers are called instructors and they are called by their first name. My mom's recess is called a coffee break and lasts 30 min, and there is no buzzer to tell you when coffee and lunch break start & end Mom's classes are called lectures, and each lecture lasts an hour and a half. There is a large room that has lots of dental chairs, and that is called the clinic. Mom & her classmates practice in there. I satin a chair with a heavy apron over me while my mom took X-rays of my teeth. My dentist could not do them because I'm a gagger, so he asked my mom to do them. When I started to gag she did the "temporal tap" on me, and worked! It was neat to see my teeth on film. Then we went into a clinic and a dentist looked at my teeth. He said I had good teeth. My mom says the reason I have good teeth is because I know how to brush & floss my teeth right. And she gave me floride drops over the years. I then had my teeth cleaned and then had some floride put in plastic trays put in my mouth for a few minutes. It tasted horrible and I couldn't leat for 112 an hour. In the afternoon, I went to a lecture with mom. She had to write an exam and I volunteered to do it too. I got 4 and Mom said she was pleased because it was a hard exam for a kid. I am glad I was able to come to Mom's school and I learned alot. ) May, 1990 HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT CONDUCTING EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE REVIEWS - V.M.R.E.U ADVANCED SKILLS WORKSHOP This workshop will provide managers with the skills to manage effectively the performance of their staff and build on the skills acquired in the previous workshop.
