SPEAKING OF HEAT WAVES . . .
There was an internal heat wave in the staff lounge last week in the form of a

fire in one of the garbage containers; Someone did not check an ashtray which
was emptied into tfre container and a live cigarette did its best to smolder
and smoke. Please take extra care when emptying ashtrays into combustible
garbage containers.

For the month of August the doctor will be in on Monday, Wednesday and Friday

Department who both recently got married -- not to each other mind you but to
their respective fiancees'.

In 30 years they can match the celebration of John Vandenakker and his wife

$1.99 each at the VVI Bookstore.

Seniors citizens take note that between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Hairdressing

students at WI will be offering free shampoos, cuts, and sets from July 22 to
September 25.
If you know any senior citizens who would be interested, pass the word around
to them.

CXINEERENCE ROOMS
When a meeting has been booked for one of our conference rooms and coffee is

required, it is the responsibility of the group using the room to either make
the coffee or order it through our Food Serviced Department. Please refrain
from requesting the Mministrative staff to make the coffee as this does not
come under their jurisdiction.
It would also be appreciated if the conference rooms could be left in a clean
condition after each meeting. Your cooperation in this matter will be greatly
appreciated.

JOB OPPORTUNITIES
The Metro Vancouver Youth Job Corps requires an employment counsellor until
March 31, 1986. Apply to the Personnel Department of VCC by August 9, 1985.
East Kootenay Community College requires an Adult Basic Education Instructor
for a 38 week term appointment (closing date is August 8 or until the position
is filled). Also required are a Manager and a Program Developer for the
Business Development and Training Centre and both positions close August 12 or
until filled.

VANDALISM
Last week nine people were trapped for twenty minutes in an elevator car on
the fourth floor because someone had apparently kicked the door off of its
runner. This is senseless damage and as per Policy and Procedure 1.1.0.5 the
Dean of Administrative and Student Services is empowered to process, "a reward

up to $200 will be paid by Vancouver Community College to any person providing
information leading to the arrest and conviction of any person or persons of a
criminal offense in relation to the theft of, or defacement to, college
property in excess of $50.00".
Anyone with any information concerning the above is asked to contact one of
the senior administrators.
