There are many ways to think about Canada. In this answer lies the conviction of this conference which is devoted to exploring Alternative Frontiers of Canadian thought, understanding, and life. We invite you to come to present your ideas and research and to engage in discussions with colleagues whose interests are in Canadian scholarship. Simon Fraser University's Centre for Canadian Studies was founded just over twenty years ago, in the first flush of the realization that 'To Know Ourselves" as Canadians is a matter of high academic pnority. Interest in Canadian Studies has increased over the years, within Canada and abroad. Recent conferences have explored the place of Canadian Studies in scholarly thought and academic settings.
