VOLUME I NUMBER 7 DECEMBER 2 1, 1983 CHRISTMAS GREETINGS As the year draws to a close, reflections on the past twelve months appears to be the order of the day. The VVI has passed another milestone with the completion of some major new construction and renovations. With the jack hammers still rattling, we all are reminded that, unfortunately, our project has not yet been completed. However, many departments and programs already enjoy the results of the project which commenced with the planning in April of 1978. Yes, it has been a long time. Yes, it appears to have become part of us! In the next few months of 1984, we will face new issues and challenges, which, I am sure, we shall manage to resolve. Our ingenuity will be put to the test in meeting the new needs for training with extremely tight money. But with your effort and endurance, I know we will succeed! With best wishes to you and your families for a joyous and festive season and a happy New Year, I thank you for your efforts and your support in 1983. H.W. HWR VVI LIBRARY FILM JANUARY 5, 1984 (12:15 Library Screening Room) RUTH STOUT'S GARDEV (23 min) Ruth Stout is a peppery older party with frank and forthright views, and great personal charm. The film visits with her as she talks about her "no dig/no work" garden that uses unorthodox methods which are nevertheless ecologically sound and productive. Ruth's commentary reveals her singular attitudes toward life, her family, and her interests. ZEA (5 min) A superb visual trick that will mystify its audience, this film transforms the commonplace into magic. Its making presented a serious technical challenge because the subject was both elusive and explosive. AB WATER SHUT OFF The water supply to the campus will be shut off on Thursday, December 29th, from 07:30 to 13:00, meaning of course that washrooms wUl be out of service for the duration. In addition, washrooms will be out of service in the afternoon, but on an alternating basis. For an operational unit after 13:00 please contact the switchboard for the location nearest you 1 ! TRRM
