A HELPFUL HINT We were on Galiano Island with a group of friends. The conversation, games and food were enjoyed by all. There was a problem however - we were invaded by hundreds of wasps (insectsJ. While trying to tolerate these aggressive "so § so's", two people were stung: a child and an adult. One of the ladies m our group is an emergency ward nurse. The remedy she suggested was to smear deodorant (containing aluminum chlorhydrate) on the stmg. Within 1/2 hour the child was up and running around again, and within 15 minutes the adult had no pain and no signs of a sting. What a simple remedy'. Just thought I would pass this information along. Question: How do you get rid of the wasps in the first place?? However, it gets worse governmental treatment (tax formulas, etc.,) than many other investments. This threatens Canada's older building stock, including Canada's heritage buildings. It can be demonstrated that a fairer governmental policy would: -stimulate billions of dollars m investments; -create thousands of jobs; -restrain the exodus of construction capital; -benefit the tourist industry; -capitalize on Canada's building stock; -assist municipal finance; -help stabilize downtown retail; -restore equity and neutrality to governmental treatment of investors; -stimulate growth at minimum risk to Treasury; -beautify Canada; -stimulate public confidence; and -complement current Canadian budgetary and economic policy. These facts have been taken from a policy paper produced by the Buildings Revival Coalition. The two-fold objective of the Coalition is this: To demonstrate to the government and people of Canada that it is m the public interest to: a) Treat investors who invest m rehab of older buildings equally with other investors (m the tax system or, if not, via compensating grants); and b) Give special attention to the rehab of designated heritage buildings.
