VOLUME 2 : NUMBER 25 : JUNE 29, 1984 IN MEMORIUM VCC-VANCQUVER VOCATIONAL INSTITUTE JUL " 5 m LIBRARY Mr. Lloyd Ferguson, instructor in the Power Engineering Department since 1976, passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 1984 after a lengthy illness. We all share in offering our condolences to Lloyd's family. HWR COLLEGE BOARD The College Board, at its meeting on Wednesday, 1984 June 27, approved the purchase of the new Computer Aided Drafting equipment recommended by the Department Department in order to modernize its programs and introduce Computer Aided Drafting upgrade training. The purchase will include 18 C.A.D. Tektronix workstations driven "by the General Data MV 10000 mainframe computer, 1 large Plotter, 2 small Plotters, and the Anvil software package. It is hoped that the equipment can be installed some time at the beginning of September. The Drafting Department is to be complimented for a very thorough and lengthy examination of all the options and suppliers. It has not been an easy task to do all this preparation work on top of the regular departmental instructional responsibilities. The Board expressed its sincere appreciation for the excellent work done by the Committee, consisting of the Department Head and Drafting instructors, the Director of Computer Services, and the Director of Purchasing. HWR FAREWELL TO SAM LEWINDON It is with sadness that the VVI sees Sam Lewindon, Department Head for Hairdressing, leave the campus to go to new challenges at K.E.C. Sam has, for a number of years, been the driving force behind new activities here on campus and will be sorely missed. His enthusiasm and positive attitude has been a great contribution here and I am sure he will continue to serve the College well at K.E.C.
