Page 2 RECYCLING AT VVI Project Recycle, an initiative of the VVI student Association, is looking into starting a recycling program on campus. It is hoped this will be launched in the fall. The benefits of recycling are both ecological and economic as recycling can reduce waste disposal costs. More importantly, it can cut down on the pollution produced by incineration and landfills. A successful recycling program at SFU is now in its third year and a small-scale program at UBC is due to be substantially expanded next year. VVI will contribute to this very positive trend by initiating their own recycling program. The VVI administration has been supportive of the establishment of a recycling program. Project Recycle is now researching the recycling experience of other campuses, among other things, They're studying ways to avoid problems such as untidiness which plagued, and eventually terminated, a previous recycling initiative on campus.
