Close to 1000 people packed Vancouver Community College's City Centre Campus for its 3rd biannual Program Information Night on April 11, 2002. Potential students and parents were eager to find out what VCC has to offer. Although the event focused on promoting the Applied Programs, representatives from High School Completion and Upgrading and ESL as well as Counselling, Financial Aid and Admissions were on hand to answer questions from students. To give visitors a better understanding of the programs, many tables featured displays ranging from spray painting to jewellery creations and electronics equipment to cooking demonstrations. As a capstone course in the Hospitality Management program, students complete an experiential course - Hotel Simulation The Collegegate Hotel - in their final semester Traditionally, the final assignment has been to present their findings to their classmates and faculty. On April 15, 2002, the final assignment and presentations were conducted off site at the Westm Bayshore Resort and Marina. With every stop - and every start - the journey took on a life of it's own - and brought me closer and closer to my destination...and when I did getthere...! had my answer! I am now continuing on with my journey, which I hope will give me the skills and knowledge to pursue my dream. 14 of us began this program, and all 14 of us completed and passed it! Each of us had our own life experiences, knowledge and wisdom that we shared along the way. It was such a pleasure to be a part of a talented, giving and nurturing group. We all learned with each other and from each other. My thanks to each of you for making it such a memorable time for me. Some of the workshop topics include mental health issues, differing beliefs, disability/ability, prejudice reduction, gender diversity, and others. Tile Wall Project The purpose of the tile wall project is to create a mural of painted tiles reflecting the value and respect individuals have towards Congratulations 2002 VCC Sun Run Team What a great team effort! Congratulations on placing 12th out of 64 Education registrants Our team advanced in the standings from 2001 where we placed 32 out of 72 in the Education Division By the Final Registration deadline of March 15, 2002, we had registered 45 participants. The entry fee included a cotton T-shirt with Vancouver Community College's logo on the back. The T-shirt packages were distributed on Thursday, April 18 by our team captains, Tami Puilham and Diane Miller. Team participants were invited to a social gathering to celebrate this year's VCC the correct start zone, participants had a better chance of walking/ running with others of similar ability. The posted dates and times will accommodate both students and employees. Although employees will have more times available to get your ID cards, be aware that you may experience line ups with students. The dates, times and locations for student ft employee ID photo sessions will be posted at the following locations: « Library « Registration Offices • Counselling Offices • Learning Centres • Media Services • International Education Centre • Student Association Offices Please ensure that your students are aware of the changes as well as the following information. • Student ID cards are available to all students registered in the College Banner system. • Students must show their registration form in order to obtain a Student ID card or expiry date sticker. • Students may obtain their ID cards at either King Edward or City Centre Campus. • Student ID cards are required in order to access Library services and to obtain FASTTRAX transit discount stickers from the Student Association Offices, (a $2.00 fee applies) There is no charge to obtain a Student ID card although if the card is lost or stolen, there is a $10.00 replacement fee payable at the Cashiers' Office. The cashier will issue a new registration form which is necessary to obtain a replacement card during posted hours and locations. Students who currently have a Student ID card can obtain an expiry date sticker from the Cashier's Office at either campus.
