QUOTE OF THE WEEK When I was younger I could remember anything, whether it happened or not imcowzu COMMUMTf Vancouver VCC - VANCOUVLR VOCATIONAL INSTITUTE LIBRARY Vocational Institute JUN 2 0 1980 FROM THE BOOKSTORE The bookstore will be closed on Saturday mornings until September! SS The bookstore will be buying back used books which are required for September at 50% off the current list price. We will accept any book that is currently being used except for workbooks and non-bound books. For books that are no longer required for on-going programmes a used book wholesaler will be on hand to determine the value of the text. His prices may be somewhat lower than ours, as his price depends upon the wholesale value of the text. The wholesaler is interested in any current textbook, regardless of where it was purchased. Departments may want to check if the wolesaler will buy back any class sets and students may want to sell their books and receive some extra money for the summer. Remember the buyback is for one day only — Thursday, June 26. ONLY CURRENT EDITIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED! JUNE se 3:oo-3:oa WOK AN ACCOMPLISHMENT! Condy Leung, the Co-ordinator II of Chinese Cuisine, has been cooking all over the city recently: On May 28, the Chinese Community hosted a dinner at the Kingsland Restaurant, to welcome the Vice-Premier of the Republic of China, Mr. Yeu. Mr. Yeu was here, with a delegation of fifteen, to view the Chinese Pavilion at Expo. Condy and Mr. Raymond Leung (no relative), the co-owner and chef of the Kingsland, were the master chefs in charge of preparing the dinner for 600 people, overseeing 2 chefs, 3 assistant cooks and 5 of our Chinese Cuisine students. The menu consisted of Lobster, Shark-Fin Soup, Scallops, Peking Duck and Crispy Chicken. Two nights earlier on May 26, Condy had been the master chef for a dinner held in honor of a delegation of economists from Kwong Chow Province of China. They had been invited by Mayor Harcourt to participate in Vancouver's Centennial Celebrations. Canton is the capital of Kwong Chow and a sister city to Vancouver. A reception, for 300 people, was hosted by the Chinese delegation in the North Park Restaurant. A Dim Sum buffet, consisting of 15 different items, was prepared by Condy and five VVI Chinese Cuisine students, and the chefs at North Park Restaurant.
