The night of music-featuring Ralph Cole, Shah Ulrich, Fifth Avenue and The Melloyds-will be held Sunday, No¬ vember 19, starting at 7:30. Cole is a former member of the Nylons who established himself in Vancouver with critically acclaimed performances m Cats and Ain't Misbehavin'. He teaches singing at Langara's Studio 58 and instructs voice in the KEC Music Department Ulrich, a two-time Juno Award winner who has toured Canada and the U.S., is currently releasing her fourth solo album, "Every Road". The Melloyds are Vancouver's "shoobop" quartet, noted for blending their a cappella harmonies and original arrangements with favourites from the 50s and 60s. Fifth Avenue members have been together for only a year, but they won the CBC/Alcan Festival International de Jazz in Montreal in July. They followed up that performance by opening for Oscar Peterson at Montreal's Place des Arts and will be soon be releasing a compact disc and album for the CBC Jazz Image label. Fifth Avenue member Alan Matheson teaches jazz history at VCC.
