V'jI 'iMll u t January 3, 1990 FAIRVIEW BUILDING FOUND UNACCEPTABLE The use of the Fairview Centre building at 1385 West 8th Ave. to provide temporary relief for overcrowding has been found to be prohibitively expensive, said VCC President Paul Gallagher. The college was looking at the 80,000 square foot Fairview Centre to take pressure off KEC and Langara by as early as this summer. "The costs involved were such that the move could have compromised our longer term plans in an attempt to solve the overcrowding on a short term basis," said Gallagher. He said VCC will have an analysis finished by the end of January which will consider the feasibility of converting the 5th floor of KEC to instructional use. He said the college still has plans to provide a long term proposal to 'the Ministry of Advanced Education, Training and Technology by the end of March. That matter will be discussed at an all-college meeting January 31 at 7PM in Room 5025 at KEC. Anyone wishing to attend the meeting should contact Shirley Bell at 875-1131, Local 347.
