March 18, 1991.
Robert A. Brocklebank, Chairperson of the VCC Board announced today the appointment of Dr.
/ vrence Fast as Principal of both the City Centre and King Edward Campuses of Vancouver Community
1...,""1lege.
This newly created position is the result of an earlier decision to reorganize and merge the administrative
and student support services at City Centre and KEC. VCC President, Paul Gallagher, had said earlier
this year "The purpose of the move is to streamline the operations of the two campuses. We are aiming
for a flatter organization with fewer layers of administration."
Dr. Fast who joined VCC in 1962, has been Principal of King Edward Campus since 1987.
Of his new expanded role Fast said "My first step will be to try to bring together all the diverse interests
and groups on both campuses. I am confident that our shared professional interest in providing the
highest quality education for our students will help to provide the goodwill and teamwork necessary to
make this reorganization work."
Dr. Fast hopes to assume his new duties as soon as April 2.
