Due to the lack of dental coverage by a large population of Canadians resulting in long-term deterioration of oral health, there are increasing advocates for universal dental care in Canada. This presentation investigates the reasons why dental care was not included in Canadian Medicare, explores the current and future dental care systems and dental hygienist's role in increasing access of oral care.
